Abflug München 08.00 Uhr, Ankunft Santa Cruz de La Palma 12.30 Uhr. Vom Airport (auf Meerniveau liegend) geht es gleich steil aufwärts auf ca. 400 Meter Höhe. Hier haben wir dann, nachdem wir die Aussicht auf Los Cancajos,  Santa Cruz und die Nachbarinseln Teneriffa, La Gomera und El Hierro ausgiebig genossen haben, die Wahl, in welcher Richtung  wir uns auf der Insel bewegen wollen. Take-off Munich 08.00 clock, arrival Santa Cruz de La Palma 12.30 clock. The airport feels (lying on sea standard) just steeply of up on approx. 400 meters height. Here we then after we have enjoyed the view of Los Cancajos, Santa Cruz and the neighbor islands of Tenerife, La Gomera and El Hierro substantially have the choice in which direction we want to move on the island. Pico de Teide / Tenerife	Santa Cruz de la Palma

In südlicher Richtung nach Fuencaliente fahren wir mit dem Auto auf einer kurvenreichen Strecke durch reizvolle Ortschaften wie Mazo und Teneguia; immer wieder unterbrechen wir die Fahrt wegen der atemberaubenden Ausblicke auf die Gegend und das Meer.

We go to Fuencaliente by car in a southerly direction on a bendy way through charming villages like Mazo and Teneguia; we interrupt the journey because of the breathtaking views of the area and the sea again and again.

Puerto Tazacorte	Tazacorte / El Time

Ab Fuencaliente geht es nach Norden, vorbei an  Los Quemados, Las Indias unterhalb der Straße, in Richtung Las Manchas und der zweitgrößten Stadt nach St. Cruz, Los Llanos de Aridane. Von hier aus werden wir später Touren in die Caldera de Taburiente, einem imposanten Vulkankrater unternehmen, werden Tazacorte, Todoque und Puerto Naos besuchen; nicht zuletzt den El Time, einen Aussichtspunkt, welcher einen grandiosen Ausblick auf das Aridanetal und die komplette Südhälfte der Insel bietet. Und überall Bananenfelder, aber auch der Weinanbau ist Wirtschaftsfaktor.

After Fuencaliente it works to the north, past to Los Quemados, India below the street read, in the direction of Manchas and the second largest town to St. Cruz, Los Llanos de Aridane, read. From here we become tours to the Caldera de Taburiente, one do an imposing volcano crater, will go to Tazacorte, Todoque and Puerto Naos later; not least the El Time, a vantage point which offers a magnificent view of the Aridanetal and the complete south half of the island. And banana countries but also the wine cultivation is economy factor everywhere.

La Glorieta / Las Manchas	Caldera de Taburiente

	Es geht weiter nach Tiarafe, Puntagorda, Las Tricias und Garafia, alles schöne saubere Orte mit hübschen Häusern und Fincas. Wir sehen, daß La Palma nicht die steilste, sondern auch die grünste aller kanarischen Inseln ist. Überall liebevoll hergerichtete Häuschen, herrliche Blumenarangements und Vegetation ohne Ende. Kleine Bodegas laden zum Rasten ein.

Read for Tricias it goes on, Puntagorda, to Tiarafe and, Garafia, everything embellishes clean places with pretty houses and fincas.

We see that La Palma, but is also the grünste of all Canary islands not the steepest. Cottages, marvelous flower-arangements and vegetation without end got ready everywhere lovingly. Small Bodegas invite to resting.

Finca Puntagorda

Von Garafia geht es weiter an der nördlichen Küste in Richtung Barlovento. Die Küstenlinie ist hier bizarrer als anderswo, und dann immer Natur pur. Nahe der blauen Lagune, einem Wasserreservoire, dann doch ein Campingplatz einfacher Art. Wer hier Urlaub macht, verzichtet gern auf den üblichen Trubel andernorts. Hier sind die aktiven Wanderer zuhause, oder auch die Paraglider in Naos und die Wasser- und Tauchsportler bei Los Cancajos.

It goes on from Garafia at the northern coast in the direction of the Barlovento. The shoreline is as elsewhere and then always more bizarre nature pure here. Does a camping site who more simply make vacation to articles here, does with pleasure without the usual hurly-burly elsewhere? The active hikers are here at home, or what also the Paraglider in Naos and the water and diving athletes at Los Cancajos.

Ab Barlovento geht es dann in südlicher Richtung weiter nach Los Sauces, San Andres und Puntallana, bevor wir schon von weitem Santa Cruz, die Hauptstadt der Insel, in voller Ausdehnung liegen sehen. Die Stadt lädt zu ausgedehntem Bummeln ein. Häuser mit schönen Holzbalkonen prägen das Bild. Hier pulsiert das Leben, man merkt, Zentrum, Hafen etc. Es gibt eine reizvolle Strecke ab hier auf die Westseite der Insel, die in ca. 500 Meter Höhe über Tunnel durch den Bergzug der Cumbres führt. Die Wolken drängen sich walzenförmig an den Bergzug. 

After Barlovento it then goes on in a southerly direction after Los Sauces, San Andres and Puntallana before we see already being of far Santa Cruz, the capital of the island, a full extension. The town invites to strolling extensively. Houses with beautiful wood balconies stamp the picture. Here the life pulsates, one notices, gives center, port etc. a charming way as of here on the western side of the island which height runs through the mountain train of the Cumbres in approx. 500 meters about tunnels. The clouds push cylindrically to the mountain train.  

Ein Highlight ist die Fahrt auf den Roque de Muchachos (ca. 2400 Höhe). Wir fahren  durch sämtliche Vegetationszonen der Insel, eine Jacke ist angesagt. Dort oben hat sich das astrophysikalische Observatorium etabliert mit ca. 14 Spiegelteleskopen und Fernrohren. Die Stelle ist ideal für europäische Verhältnisse, zumal auf der Insel ein Gesetz gegen Lichtverschmutzung existiert. Nachts wird die öffentliche Beleuchtung entsprechend reduziert. Einmal im Jahr gibt es einen Tag der offenen Tür im Observatorium. Schon mit blosem Auge stellen wir fest, das der Sternenhimmel über La Palma in seiner Fülle einzigartig ist.

A highlight is the journey on the Roque de Muchachos (ca. 2400 heights). We drive through all vegetation zones of the island, a jacket is announced. There above the astrophysical observatory has established itself with approx. 14 mirror telescopes and telescopes. The place is ideal for European conditions particularly since a law exists against light pollution on the island. The public illumination is reduced correspondingly at night. There is an Open Day in the observatory once a year. Already with an unarmed eye we state firm, this the starry sky is unique his fullness over La Palma.
